Great fielding, offensive firepower, and dominant pitching was the recipe for the LCA Lady Lions Softball team as they claimed the 2016 Eastern Independent League Regular Season title - their 2nd straight league title! With a record of 9-0 in league play and 10-1 overall, the Lady Lions' have one regular season game remaining on Thursday, May 19 against Concord Academy. Led by pitcher Samantha Gibson '16 who has a record of 9-1, striking out 101 batters in 66 innings, while maintaining an earned run average of 1.06, LCA has been strong defensively. Gibson has also contributed with her bat. She has a .698 average with a 1.163 slugging %, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Shortstop Shae Roys '16 has been LCA's lead off hitter and carries a .610 average and 21 runs scored. As of late, the Lady Lions are arguably playing their best Softball. Over the last three games LCA has scored 44 runs in wins over EIL rivals Beaver Country Day, Berwick Academy, and Pingree School. The team has had to endure some trials throughout the season, but has persevered and is playing their best softball when it counts the most. Coaches Scott Gibson and Kim Borgen have done well leading this group of Lady Lions. Following their game on Thursday, the Lady Lions will travel to Dana Hall on Saturday for the EIL Softball Tournament to conclude their championship season.

Lady Lions celebrate their recent win over Berwick Academy, clinching the 2016 Eastern Independent League title.
