Wrestlers to Compete at NEPSAC Tournament

Varsity Wrestling heads into this weekend’s New England Prep School Tournament coming off of a regular season Eastern Independent League Title and an League Tournament Championship this past Saturday at Portsmouth Abbey. The Lions’ placed first with 159 points and four individual champions and four 2nd place finishes. Captain Connor Meaney ’16 (120 lbs), Xergio Aguilar ’16 (126 lbs), captain Jason Calandra ’17 (145 lbs), and Edmond DeAngelis ’17 (195 lbs) all won EIL titles in their respective weight classes. The team championship at the tournament is the third consecutive for LCA.

Now the team’s attention turns to the NEPSAC Tournament at Avon Old Farms (CT) this weekend. Twelve wrestlers have qualified for this year’s tournament. This double elimination tournament brings together the top wrestlers in New England. If any wrestler places in the top seven of their weight class they will be invited to the National Prep Wrestling Championships at Lehigh University, February 26-27.
