Lexington Christian Academy is situated on thirty acres of land in historic Lexington, Massachusetts. As one approaches the building, the Library rotunda stands prominently at the corner of the building. The rotunda's glass panes echo the design of the lantern that hangs inside. They reflect our commitment to empowering our students through the inquiry and learning that takes place within these walls so that our students may illuminate our world.
The 75,000 square-foot facility houses all of the school’s activities under one roof. There are 20 classrooms in total. In 2007, two new state-of-the-art science labs were completed; one for biology and one for chemistry. This is LCA’s most recent addition to our building renovation and expansion program which started in 2000 as part of a phased construction plan. These new labs compliment the other three recently renovated science labs. Technology is an integral part of the learning process with a full lab of computers used for graphic design and journalism as well as mobile laptop carts used in various classrooms for everything from science experiments to creative writing. Our facility-wide wireless network provides access throughout the school and helps tie our technology resources together. The library has more than 8,000 volumes and a dozen more computers with access to online resources. Comfortable chairs are found in the rotunda area, and there is plenty of space for small group studying. The adjacent dining room seats 140 students and staff during three lunch periods.
The music center accommodates 100 students, with three individual practice rooms. An auditorium has been constructed, with plans to complete it in a future phase of construction. The spacious art studio features pottery wheels, kilns and capabilities for creating stained glass projects. The Activity Center is a versatile meeting space, used for chapel, theatre productions, and wrestling matches, while the black theatrical curtain appropriately dresses the space for performances and awards nights.
The gymnasium was rebuilt in 2005 and features a full-size basketball court as well as extra space for a volleyball court, a batting cage, and a 2-story rock wall. The bleachers seat the entire student body for our weekly assembly meetings.
As of the summer of 2013, LCA's audtorium, The Cross Worship and Performing Arts center, was finished and dedicated on the 13th of May. The dedication featured performances by LCA's Chorale and Chamber SIngers, worship lead by parents, specaial performances by graduates, reflections given by Alumni; speeches by current students and teachers, past and present trustee members. The featured speaker was Dr. D. Michael Lindsey, current president of Gordon College. Many gathered to celebrate this joyful event which was the culmination of the work started in 2000. The day was full of elation as parents, teachers, alumni, students, and staff, who have supported LCA through its various stages of growth, reunited and shared in fond memories of old and updates of current stations in life.
The grounds of our school are beautiful, and one can enjoy nature while strolling around the property. We have three fields used for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey, as well as a baseball field and a cross-country trail which leads into the adjacent conservation property. During the summer months, people from the community may choose to become members of the Meadow Breeze Swim and Tennis Club which provides access to the outdoor pool and two tennis courts. These facilities are also available to faculty and staff as well as to the Meadow Breeze campers.
