Artist Statement:

"Aesthetic life is as integral to being human as building sandcastles on the beach and giving your children names." –Calvin Seerveld

I am called to respond to want and need: to share, to create, to discover, to take risks, to explore aesthetics, to make connections, to express inclinations, to reject and accept sophistication, to respond to God's world, to create and share in the creative process both in teaching and in making. Both are a passion and a privilege.

About the artist

 Mr. VanderBrug is a senior faculty member in the Visual Arts Department at Lexington Christian Academy, where he has taught since 1988. In addition to teaching at LCA, he has taught at Gordon College (1992 to 1995), Boston College High School, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
