We have class councils and chaplains in both the middle school and upper school.
Each of the three grades (6 – 8) elects a class council of three leaders. These leaders help with homeroom devotions, discuss class dynamics and concerns, and plan class activities with the faculty homeroom team.
Each of the four grades also elects a small class council. Combinations of individuals, pairs or trios are elected as class activity leaders, helping to plan and execute class social activities. Others serve as class chaplains, working together to offer homeroom devotions throughout the year.
The Prefect Board is comprised of eleven leaders representing:
- Fine Arts
- Community Service
- Multicultural Community
- National Honor Society
- Peer Issues Group
- Resident Life
- At-large Prefect
The prefects work with their faculty mentor to plan school wide initiatives and activities. They help to keep the administration informed of student issues and sometimes to help the student body understand an administrative position.
Throughout the year, student leaders are identified for specific activities, such as:
- Athletic Captains
- Directors in theatre productions
- Chorale Section Leaders
- Club Presidents
- Cross Center Tech Crew
Students can also work with the Director of Student Life to initiate an activity that isn't already part of the co-curricular program.
Every september, there is a student leadership training day during which a professional leadership trainer comes in and works with the students on issues of leadership and how they can have a greater influence throughout the year. This time is also marked by prayer and setting goals for the coming year.
