Mrs. Karen E.B. Elliott
B.A., British and American Literature, Ithaca College
Mrs. Karen Elliott teaches upper school English and helped redesign the curriculum for grades 10-12. She also helped redesign LCA's student government and worked with a team to create our "prefect" system. She previously served as all-campus activities coordinator. She writes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry and has had poetry and articles published. She wrote for a small newspaper in Greenwich Village; she has served as adjunct faculty/lecturer for The Cambridge Center for Adult Education in Harvard Square, and has presented at ACSI conferences regarding the importance of secular literature in the Christian school.
Mrs. Elliott has traveled extensively; takes graduate level courses “for fun,” and thoroughly enjoys teaching and sharing her love of Christ with her students. One of her favorite trips was to South Korea where she met with many families of our international students. A few years ago, Mrs. Elliott had an article published in "Christian School Teacher" magazine which relays why she teaches, and why she teaches here at LCA in particular. In 2014, she was awarded the Vander Brug Grant which gave her the amazing opportunity to attend a seminar in Oxford entitled "Boundaries of Scientific Knowledge," in which she shared her thoughts on science from a literary and Christian point of view.
