Thanks4Giving Day at LCA!

What is Thanks4Giving Day?

Thanks4Giving Day is a celebration of generosity.

At Lexington Christian Academy, like other private schools, tuition only covers a portion of the actual cost of educating each student. Thanks4Giving Day marks the approximate point in the school year when tuition dollars stop covering the costs to operate the Academy. At LCA, tuition covers 81% of the operating costs each year and 19% comes from other revenue sources including gifts from donors.  Without donor support our students would not benefit from the variety of programs we are able to offer throughout the year. Without gifts from donors, tuition would increase by $2,077, or more, per student.

Thanks4Giving Day raises awareness among our students and invites them to express their gratitude to our donors (alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends, corporations, foundations, etc.). By raising awareness of the vital role philanthropy has on the day-to-day life of our student body, we hope to educate and inspire students, families, and donors to live lives of generosity.

How do we celebrate Thanks4Giving Day?

As part of our Thanks4Giving Day, students had a special ‘Thanksgiving’ inspired lunch on April 19th in the Dining Hall, including homemade pies provided by our faculty, staff, parents, and alumni. Students also had the opportunity to write Thanks4Giving notes to donors.

How much of the cost to attend LCA is covered by donors?

At LCA, only 81% of the total annual cost to attend is covered by tuition. 14% of the cost to attend is contributed by donors and the remaining 5% is revenue from auxiliary programs and interest from our investments.

How many students on campus receive some type of financial assistance each year?

About 48% of students receive some form of financial assistance. Approximately 137 students are currently receiving financial assistance at LCA.  In addition, we have over 65 donor funded scholarships which are offered to students who meet the criteria established by the donors.

Who gives to LCA? Why do they give?

Alumni, parents, grandparents, trustees, faculty, staff, and other friends of LCA  give to the Academy because they know first-hand that lives are being forever changed by the exceptional faculty, coaches, and staff who challenge students to grow in both faith and knowledge as they participate in the multi-faceted program we offer.

LCA prepares students for lives of leadership, relevance, and influence in whatever professions they pursue. We receive support from a variety of individuals who believe in LCA’s mission to educate young men and women in the arts and sciences in the context of a complete commitment to the historic Christian faith.

Why is it important to say Thanks4Giving to donors and what is the ultimate goal of Thanks4Giving Day?

Our donors want and deserve to know what impact their gifts are making in the lives of students. LCA is incredibly grateful for, and fortunate to have, active and loyal donors who view the Academy as part of their stewardship plan. We hope that Thanks4Giving Day helps foster a sense of stewardship and philanthropy among the LCA community and that our students, parents, grandparents, alumni, and the many friends of the Academy will join us in making a Christian college preparatory education accessible to as many students as possible.
