Ryan Patrie ’03 was named the Eastern Independent League’s (EIL) Coach of the Year for the 2012 Boys Lacrosse season. Ryan, in his third year at the helm of LCA Lacrosse, was honored by fellow EIL coaches after leading his team to a fifth place finish in the League.
The team’s highlight of the year came in a match-up against rival Landmark School in which the team battled and found a late goal to go ahead 12-11 avenging an earlier season loss at Landmark’s hands. In the game one of Patrie’s seniors, Brian Callahan ‘12, broke the goals in a game record for the second time this season, netting eight to lift his team over Landmark on their own field.
Others recognized for their efforts this season were Captain Justin McDonald ’12, who was named to the U.S. Lacrosse All-Academic Team. Justin was also selected to the EIL All-League Team along with Brian Callahan ’12 and Eric Donovan ’13, who earned a spot on the EIL Honorable Mention Team.
When asked about the honor his coach received, senior and team captain Erik Wilson ‘12 remarked, “I’ve had Coach Patrie for four years and I can honestly say that he has helped me to both elevate my lacrosse game and to grow as a young man and in character.”
Coach Patrie, no stranger to LCA Lacrosse, captained the team during his senior season before attending Liberty University, where he captained the Men’s Club Lacrosse Team. In addition coaching LCA’s Lacrosse team, Patrie works as Head Coach of the Varsity Girls Soccer team in addition to his role as Admissions Associate for the Academy.
