Girls Basketball Earns a NEPSAC Tournament Bid.
The girls basketball team made another appearance in the NEPSAC Tournament after finishing as the Class D Runner-up in 2010-2011. The Lions completed the regular season with a 15-7 record, and a second place finish in both the EIL tournament and EIL regular season play with a league record of 10-3.
As the fourth seed, LCA drew a rematch from last year’s NEPSAC Tournament with Christian Heritage School of Connecticut, and because of the distance, had to travel to a neutral site. In a competitive match-up, both teams battled evenly in the first half with the slight advantage going to LCA. The second stanza had a different look however as Heritage was able to open up a 10 point lead on a deep three with just 5 minutes remaining in the contest. The Lions clipped the lead to 5 points with two and a half minutes left but would get no closer than that as Heritage point guard, Stephanie Jones (25 pts.) hit two jumpers late to seal the victory. In the effort, LCA was led by Vicky Nguyen who had 10 points, Kallen Roys with 6, and Emily Schuh and Elizabeth Gallagher adding 5 pts. a piece.
