Mission and Core Values of the EIL

New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC)

The New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) was established in 1942 as an organization of athletic directors from accredited New England independent schools. While the Association does not function as a regulatory or oversight body (like the NCAA or state public high school associations), NEPSAC does sanction New England championship events in many sports and provides guidance in a variety of issues involving interscholastic athletics in the member schools. The NEPSAC functions most directly by the leadership of an Executive Board.

NEPSAC consists of four District organizations, each of which operates with some autonomy in guiding the development of policies and procedures related to athletic competition within the District. NEPSAC is incorporated in the State of Maine. There are four Districts in which NEPSAC schools have membership. Massachusetts schools, 83 totals, are members of D-3.

For Tournament play, NEPSAC members are divided into Classes mostly arranged by school size. At LCA, the boy’s teams have historically competed in Class D while the girls teams have most recently competed in Class C.
