Christian
Academy provides students with the tools and capabilities needed for college and university life, with Christian teachers as role models and guides. The historic Christian faith provides the foundation for a coherent, unifying philosophy of life. Students are assisted in understanding and evaluating from a Christian perspective opposing philosophies and ideologies, using materials that are appropriate to grade level and maturity.
Our objectives include the development of:
-
A Christian worldview
-
An intellectual curiosity and desire for life-long learning
-
The ability to think critically, analytically, and independently
-
The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
-
Mathematical skills and scientific methodology
-
An appreciation of cultural and aesthetic values
- A desire to participate in social and civic responsibilities
-
High moral, ethical, and intellectual standards
-
Physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being
In order to help our students understand opposing ideologies we must teach them how to ask hard questions and determine what is true. Our curriculum builds on a foundation of basic skills to cultivate the concepts and intellectual skills needed for an understanding of the arts, humanities, and sciences. We emphasize the conceptual, abstract, and critical thinking; problem-solving; and independent study. We offer a challenging college preparatory curriculum that includes honors, Advanced Placement, and independent study courses that encourage academic and personal discipline.
