Coach LaHair Returns to Lady Lions Softball
Posted 02/14/2017 01:16PM

In his first and only season thus far at the helm of the Lady Lions Varsity Softball team, Coach Brian LaHair helped guide LCA to its 3rd Eastern Independent League Title in program history and was named the 2015 EIL Coach of the Year. Following a year teaching and coaching at Nantucket High School, Coach LaHair has returned to LCA to lead a young, but talented team in 2017.

Coach Patrie, LCA Athletic Director, spoke with Coach LaHair about returning to LCA.

Coach Patrie: What did you miss about LCA?

Coach LaHair: "Having coached for other schools, there is really no place like LCA. The school's dedication to both academics and athletics is unmatched. The players genuinely care about the sports that they play and the name across the front of their jersey. The support that the athletics programs receive from the LCA community, boosters, administration, and most importantly the players and coaches is like no place I have been before."

Coach Patrie: What do you look forward to as you return?

Coach LaHair: "I am thrilled to be back at LCA. I look forward to getting to work with some familiar faces as well as the new additions. I am happy to be back coaching in the EIL, this is an extremely competitive league, with great coaching and players from top to bottom.  I also look forward to getting the girls into our new fitness facility here at LCA, this is a great addition to athletics and a great way to help get our girls in softball shape early in the season."

Coach Patrie: What are your expectations for this year?

Coach LaHair: "The expectations for our team is the same as every year. Be better everyday. I expect us to be competitive in  the EIL and compete once again for the EIL championship.  We are back to back champs, we have the biggest targets on us and we know that we will get every teams best effort. But titles those are in the past. It is nice to see the banners hanging in the gym, but it is the 2017 season and time to focus on the new year."

Coach Patrie: What are your long-term goals for the program?

Coach LaHair: "We want to remain a championship program, producing well rounded student athletes. I think that this program has a bright future."

Coach LaHair and the Varsity Softball team will get to work soon as practices begin March 13. Tryouts will take place throughout that week. The Lady Lions enter 2017 as back-to-back defending EIL Champs and look to make their own history this season.
