Parents in Prayer

Parents in Prayer (PIP) meets on Wednesday mornings from 8-9 a.m. This week we will meet in Room 204 and we'll be praying specifically for the Athletic Department. Please sign in at the front desk upon arriving at school.

All parents are welcome to join us, whether for the full hour, or part of the time as your schedule allows. If you can't be with us in body, please join us in spirit! If you have any questions, please forward them to our email

Spiritual Emphasis Week

Mark your calendar for Tuesday Oct 22 – Thursday Oct 24! This year’s Spiritual Emphasis Week is earlier then it has been in the past, so don’t let it slip by. For three days, we will gather everyday for chapel to worship and be challenged by our speaker, Spencer Davis. Students will enjoy his interactive manners and ability to apply God’s Word to everyday life. Check out his bio below.

Also, parents take note! Spencer will be taking some time to talk with parents and guardians about helping their students navigate their spiritual lives. Plan to come and hear Spencer Wednesday Oct. 23 at 7pm in the library of LCA. This will be a great evening of challenge and learning.

Spencer Davis is the Director of OLD School, a semester long wilderness course filled with solid outdoor skill training and Biblical discipleship. OLD School is a part of Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters in western North Caroline, where Spencer has been in ministry for the past 11 years. He is a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., holding a bachelor of arts in religion/Biblical studies and a master of arts in religion. He also is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and helped launch the OLD School program in 2002. Spencer is a native of Columbus, Ga., and is married to Amy and has three children: Alani, Knox, and Jed. Spence has years of experience talking with teenagers and youth workers; he is excited to join us for Spiritual Emphasis Week.

You can learn more about Spencer at the following links:

Don't miss a Free New Performance this fall....Cross Up Close!
Presented by the Chamber Singers and Company

All are welcome! Come enjoy a fun-filled night of your favorite Broadway melodies and monologues! See our students perform exciting and moving solos, duets, and more! You'll laugh, you'll cry; you'll see our singers as you've never seen them before! Mark your calendars now and make a date for November 1st at 7 pm. We can't wait to see you there!

(Reception limited to 100 people so buy your tickets soon!)

College Advising

LCA will administer the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th.  All 10th and 11th grade students sit for this exam in place of their regular morning classes. The exam is offered at no additional cost to LCA families.

The PSAT (Preliminary Standardized Achievement Test) measures abilities in Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. For the juniors, this is the qualifying examination for the National Merit Scholarship program (NMSQT). For sophomores, this is an excellent preparatory experience in standardized testing. There is no additional preparation required.

PSAT results will be shared with parents and guardians at a College Advising event in December. Please watch the LINK for details.

College Representative Visit Program

College visits this week include representatives from the following:

  • Massachusetts College of Pharmacy
  • Connecticut College
  • Elon College

Students can sign up on the College Advising board in the senior hallway. They are required to receive permission from their teachers to miss classes; they are also responsible for all missed work. This is an excellent opportunity for our seniors to learn more about specific colleges and about the admission process in general. The complete listing of more than 25 schools is posted on the LCA website and on Moodle.

Make-up Work for Early Dismissals

If you are being dismissed early for a school related activity (sports, theatre, music, college visit etc) or an appointment (Dr., dentist etc.) you are expected to see the teacher before leaving to turn in work and get any assigned homework.

If you miss a test or a quiz you are expected to take it the next school day after school with the teacher. The teacher will give you a pass to practice or 7th period if you are arriving late. You may schedule your test during a study hall by seeing the teacher. If you don’t make arrangements with the teacher and don’t take the test after school, the teacher does not have to allow you to take the test at a later time.

Lunch Program

Parents, guardians, grandparents - If you are like food, fun, and fellowship please consider volunteering in the kitchen. Not only will you be meeting and interacting with other parents and volunteers, but you will be witness to a significant part of the school day which is filled with energy and joy. And by no means least, your student gets a free lunch the day/s you work!

For more information please contact Steve Schmidt or give us a call at ext. 130
